Personal NPCs
From Tatsumaki: Land at War

Overview
Personal NPCs are split into two categories Human NPCs and Pets and are generally extremely useful and either difficult to obtain and keep or expensive to do so.
Human NPCs
Worker
Worker NPC's are NPC's that can be hired and trained to perform certain basic tasks such as creating iron ingots, treating leather, or cooking meals for your restaurant. Worker NPC's also fall into the guard category however less commonly then in other trades.
Scholar
A scholar NPC is an NPC that is able to be taught skills, jobs, abilities, and commands that are able to then be taught to designated players, families and player types. Commonly found in schools and dojos.
Aristocrat
An aristocrat is an NPC that can be taught the arts and mercantilism and then used to run shops, theatre, or games of chance.
Programmability
While this area is currently on the drawing board, and has yet to become a guaranteed part of the game - we are toying with the idea of allowing players to write their own NPCs, to do certain tasks, with an easy to use and learn scripting language, similar to BASIC or Python.
Pets
Overview
Pets are extremely difficult to tame, and even more difficult to train. Pets may be a hermits lone companion or a warriors secret weapon.
While there will not be any "/pet" commands, as in most games - you will be able to, after training, command your pet verbally to do simple commands, such as sit - attack - roll over - and so on.
Training
After earning the trust of a wild animal, pets can be trained to perform certain tasks. You may train a dog to guard your house, or a horse to sow your fields. Training is a long and difficult process, however; the benefits far outweigh the time needed to properly train a pet.
Certain commands will take longer to teach than others, and require quite a bit more work - an example would be comparing "sit" vs "attack" - you can easily train almost any animal to sit; but attacking would be quite a bit more difficult - and require a lot of work.
Possible Types
Dogs, Fox, Fish, Turtles, and many types of animals native to Japan will be able to tame as pets, at your own risk of course.
Taming
While we are currently uncertain how Taming an animal will work, we are certain that it will not be easy - and require quite a bit of work.
Death
Pets will die, and you will not be able to get them back, nor will you be given any special treatment the next time you tame / train one;
