Resource Processing

In many cases, resources must be processed to either purify it or make it easier to work with depending on the item you wish to craft. Crude iron ore for instance must first be oxidized to purify the crude ore, then the ore will be placed in a pot or cauldron to heat it to the melting point. At this point you would pour it into molds making iron ingots which can then be shaped using heat and a hammer into a blade, or into another type of mold to craft tools, links for chain, and many other things.

Armor Crafting

Clothing

Simple clothing can be made from many hides, as well as quite a few different plants. The process is actually quite involving depending on what you wish to create and a simple animal hide tunic would require you to obtain a needle, thread, an animal hide, or hides, depending on the size, and a tool to cut the hide to the desired shape. Simply take your hide, and clean it off in a tub, certain chemicals can also be added to the tub to treat the hide, in which case you may have to wait for it to soak in the chemical and dry. Secondly take your cutting tool, a knife possibly and carve the shape needed for the item you want then take your needle and thread, and sew the entire thing up. Making a large item out of a small hide involves using a drawing of your items shape and laying out the cleaned hides on the shape and cutting off pieces that are not needed, then stitching the pieces together 1 at a time, be careful not to stitch the wrong pieces together or you might end up with a pot holder instead of pants =).

Hide Armor

Hide armor MUST be cured using chemicals derived from plants and minerals, once it is cured depending on the item you will do one of two things. The first being the same as crafting clothing, the second being, in the case of a hardened leather which is nearly unworkable after it has dried from the curing tub, you must cut the pieces to shape, then place the pieces onto carved pieces of wood or stone to maintain a useable size/shape when the pieces are dried. Finally after drying you would simply punch the edges of the pieces with a sharp tool then stitch the pieces together, a needle is not needed in this case as you can just string it by hand.

Ore Based Armor

Ore based armor can be crafted using many different methods, processed ore can be simply poured into pre crafted molds and set to cool, providing solid armor with decent protection and low movement, for more advanced armor the process is a little more difficult. Each and every unique piece and part for the armor has to be created separately, the method depends on the part. A chain armor is crafted by pouring small one inch long 1/10 inch thick ingots, then bending the ingots around each other, In most cases a dummy would be used for this method, however you can also use a very patient person if you want the armor to be perfectly formed to that person. You may also craft armor by molding then heating plates and shaping them with your hammer, this process is the most complicated and is the only way to make the more impressive looking, and working armors.

Combination Armor

You may combine techniques to create armor such as attaching a plate shoulder piece to a chain body. You can also add studs, plates, spikes, almost anything you can dream up to your Hide armor. Combining armor techniques is in theory upgrading previous crafted armor to a better form, or protective level. This however is not always the case, many armors will not contain a complete armor technique, just pieces of different techniques. This method can transform an extremely low protection, high movement armor into a high movement high protection armor. Combination Armor is also the basis for Decorative Armor.

Decorative Armor

Decorative Armor is the most difficult armor to craft, a single piece of armor may take a player days to even prepare the items needed to craft the armor. Decorative Armor is a combination of cloths, hides, and ores to create extremely heavy armor that is undoubtedly appealing to the eye. Every piece of Decorative Armor must be meticulously added to the primary structure of the armor. Decorative armor will not protect you by any means, in most cases it will slow you down so much that you would barely be able to mount a steed. Decorative Armor primarily signifies prestige in a family, town, province, or even the dynasty at the will of the Emperor.

Weapon Crafting

Carving Wooden Items

Carving different sized pieces of wood with an Iron tool can Create Items such as a wooden blade, an arrow shaft, or just a large wooden spike to use for crafting a wall in times of war. Shaving down a stick with a sharp rock is more then enough to craft a wooden blade, however a wooden blade crafted with a better tool will have a better quality to it.

Breaking Stone Items

You can break stones into certain low quality items just by smacking them together, this is limited to fairly simple items like arrowheads and stone blades.

Carving Stone Items

Using an ore crafted chisel and a hammer, meticulously carving a wide range of stone based weapons, and weapon parts such as gears for siege weaponry. Stone items are strong however they are less effective then most other materials.

Forging Straight Blades

Straight blades are forged by taking a hammer to an iron ingot on an anvil after heating it in a forge to flatten out the edges, the more you do it the sharper you can get it, to a point, a solid piece of metal can only get so sharp.

Forging Curved Blades

Curved blades are forged much the same way as straight blades, the difference is you would heat the ingot and bend it on a workbench or anvil to obtain the curvature you want then flatten it out the same way as a straight blade.

Forging a Hammer Head

You may forge a Hammer Head by crafting or carving a mould, or heating up an iron bar and shaping it on an anvil, inscriptions and decoration can be added by reheating the finished head, you may also pour entire hammers as a single piece.

Forging Hand to Hand Weapons

Hand to hand weapons range from simple gloves with a harder material on the knuckles to advanced blade weapons incorporated into high quality metal gauntlets.

Forging Unique Weapons

Unique weapons may be crafted in the forge or through molds, there are many unique weapons including pole arms and siege ammunition.

Forging Tools

Pitchforks, sewing needles, planning blades, and a wide variety of other tools can be forged by combing molds and other crafting techniques.

Other types of Crafting

There are plenty of other types of crafting such as pottery and carpentry that have their own unique methods.
